In 2009, I was photographing the large stupa in Bodhnath in Nepal. The best light of the day had probably already passed and I was looking for a bright and colourful subject to focus my attention and my camera upon.
Just when I was about to call it a day, a group of Buddhist monks climbed the stairs to the first level of the stupa, One of them was carrying a bright and colourful rainbow umbrella.
It made for a great subject!

It made for a great subject!
Since then, rainbow-coloured umbrellas have appeared in front of my lens on numerous other occasions. Although I'm never consciously looking out for them, they frequently appear and the sight of one never fails to put a smile on my face.
